What Really Ticks Jesus Off

161030Woes

When you are working for a wage, it’s helpful to know what to avoid with your boss. We name Jesus our Lord, which is another way of saying we submit to His authority and leadership. It sure would be helpful to know “what really ticks Jesus off!” We come to the section of Luke known as the “woes” passage in Luke 11:37-53. If a woe applies to us, then we’d better say “woah” to what we’re doing!

Women In Church 1.0

160515Women

What was Jesus’ view of women and their role in the Christian ministry? We learn much by observing how he allowed women to interact with him as well as the stories he told. In this sermon we consider just 3 verses, Luke 8:1-3. We’ll discover that our gifts and blessings are much more important to ministry than is our gender.

Mirrored Measurements

160313Mirror

What goes around comes around! Jesus teaches this is especially true with judging and condemning others (on the negative side), but equally true on the forgiving and giving to others (on the positive side). So how do you become more merciful and giving? By looking closely in the mirror! When you check the speck, yank the plank!

#088: An Amazing Exchange

131223Exchange

I talk about Super Bowl week for pastors and share some of my favorite Christmas media traditions.

In the sermon, we consider the greatest Christmas gift exchange ever - between us and God. We give Him our worries, our hurts, and our griefs. He, in exchange, gives us His peace, His healing, and His joy.

Music for this week's podcast is "Twas The Night Before Christmas" by Dave Koz.

#055: Bicycle Morning

BicycleMorningPodcast

This week's podcast includes some personal updates. I'm planning on biking around town a lot more and am training for GOBA. The half marathon is coming up this Saturday. Will I be ready? I talk a bit about Jessica's wedding plans - coming up soon on May 18th! I read the lyrics of the Cinderella song and fight getting choked up. We hope to add at least one new leader to our team, maybe two. What do we look for in a leader? I talk about the 3 C's. Yesterday was a planning day for me, so I let you in on our sermon plans for the next 3 months. Finally, we play back last weekend's last Toxic sermon: "Toxic Religion."

Here are the links for everything mentioned in this week's podcast:
